The Virginia Association of School Business Officials (VASB0) offers with pride two $1,500 annual scholarships to deserving high school seniors.  To be eligible for this Award, an applicant must be either a current VASBO member for three consecutive years, not counting the current year, enrolled in an accredited college degree program which enhances one’s skills as a business official, or the child or grandchild of a member in good standing of VASBO.  The applicants must also have applied for and been accepted into a degree program at an accredited college or university prior to issuance of the award.

The successful applicants will be chosen based upon a committee’s assessment of the applicant’s academic achievement, character, school and community service and career goals.  Once accepted for a scholarship, the applicant may apply for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year provided that the average GPA is 3.0 or higher for the prior semester as documented by a transcript.  The scholarship committee will grant first priority to high school seniors.  The recipients will be chosen after the deadline and announced immediately thereafter.

The recipients will be invited to the association’s Spring Conference at the Hilton in Virginia Beach.  Each recipient will be formally recognized by the entire association membership.  All expenses related to travel and lodging for the recipients and parents will be paid for by VASBO for one night.

The application requirements are as follows:

² Complete the application form including a 200- (or fewer) word personal

statement  relating to his or her career goals, program of study and the value

of this scholarship in meeting his or her career and educational objectives.
